Cork product standards aim to establish objective and analytical criteria to serve as reference for the global market. A remarkable aspect of this strategy is the fact that the Catalan cork industry has been the first in the world to establish and self-impose very strict manufacturing and finish standards to guarantee the quality of their products.
This action has led to the following results:
- The publication of 11 Catalan Cork Standards.
- Directing and co-ordinating the Secretariat of the Spanish Standards Organisation (AENOR) for cork and drawing up 4 standards for the product.
- Participation in the international standardisation processes for cork (ISO), co-ordinating the Spanish delegation.
Services related to cork product standards:
- The development and revision of the Catalan Cork Standards (NCS).
- Co-ordination of the work of the UNE standards committees.
- Participation in the ISO standards committees.
- Development and promotion of government programmes for implanting the ISO 9000 quality management and assurance standards in the companies. |
